Principal's Welcome
Hurstville Public School has a long and proud history of
success. The school was first opened in 1876 and has
seen many changes in education, society and culture over the years. Currently the school represents a diverse community of which 96% are from backgrounds other then English. The main cultural group is composed of students from Chinese background.
Our large student numbers contribute to a dynamic learning environment and our specialist teachers cater for students with additional needs, including students who are learning English as a second language. We have many strategies in place to develop gifted and talented students and promote active citizenship.
The school motto of “strive for success” represents our focus on achievement and our high standards. We are committed to developing all aspects of the students in our care: intellectual, physical, social and emotional. We provide many opportunities and specific programs to develop skills and knowledge in sport, performing arts and student leadership.
We encourage community involvement and work very closely with the school Parents and Citizens Association to provide quality education to our students.
Our school is currently expanding and developing our technology program and focussing on having a healthy lifestyle.
I am very proud to be principal of Hurstville Public school leading a committed and professional staff who both challenge and nurture the students in their care.
