Kindergarten Enrolments
A common question that parents ask is how old their child needs to be to start Kindergarten in a particular school year. In this regard your child is required to be 5 years old by the 31st July for Kindergarten of the year they start.
To assist you in helping your child's transition to school, you may like to download these two NSW Department of Education publications:

Time to start school - Family Guide to starting Kindergarten (pdf 1.2mb)

A Special Place - A story book to read with your child about starting school (pdf 3.4mb)
Enrolling a child with special needs
As a parent or carer of a child with a learning difficulty or disability, you have access to a team of people from your local regional office who will assist you with your child's enrolment. Depending on your location and your child's needs, you may have access to regular classes in regular schools, support classes in regular schools or a school with specific support services. Before enrolling your child, you will be asked to contact the student support team at your local regional office. For additional information, see our disability programs section.

Non-Australian citizens, including permanent residents, temporary residents and visitors, may enrol in Hurstville Public School, subject to certain conditions.
